From words to action. Project Pitching in Boyarka, Kyiv region

It is rather difficult to implement positive changes. For example, there is no sport ground near the house or the school has old furniture, the flower bed on town square is unattractive, the park area is dirty. You ought to change this. “Active citizens” help changemakers.

Pitching and community project financing

The Boyarka citizens presented their projects to the specialists of the British Council in Ukraine and the town council of Boyarka for the second year in a row. These projects relate to different areas: repair and space improvement, landscaping, organization of educational programs for children and various communities. This year, 225,000 hryvnias were allocated for the best project proposals.

The specialists of the Open University of Maidan and the British Council helped the participants to shape ideas into working projects and present them to the jury. These were two days of active collaboration and hard work. It included the high-quality presentation creation, budget calculations and calendar planning. This helped activists to understand the idea of the project, its purpose and ways of the implementation.

On June 18th, the projects were submitted to the Competition Commission. The last year finalists also took part and presented their projects. This is important, because regular participants form a strong active community.

As a result, seven projects reached the final and will receive funding.

Thank you, Boyarka! The “Active citizens” team is preparing for pitching in the next city!
